Snow Emergency 3-3 and 3-4-2025
TOWN OF IRON RIVER – SNOW EMERGENCY NOTICE March 4-5, 2025
6:30AM
The Winter Storm we are experiencing in Iron River continues today, please take all
necessary steps to be safe while driving and going out (as necessary) while the snow
and very strong winds continue and create drifting in many areas.
The Iron River Highway Dept. crew has been out plowing streets and roads since early
this morning (Wed.) and continues to work on clearing them. Gravel and rural town
roads currently are snow covered and with a glaze of ice making them difficult to plow
which is taking significantly more time to clear.
The highway department on some roads in the township may clear only a single lane in
order to provide access and then complete the plowing when the storm subsides. We
know that citizens need to get to work, we are asking for your patience as we open roads
as soon as possible while the storm continues through at least 1pm today by the latest
forecast. The slower than normal pace of plowing may result in later than normal
clearing of some roads however, we will get to all roads in the township as soon as
possible.
Our goal is to open the roads safely and as soon as possible to ensure our Fire, EMS and
Police can respond to calls, that school buses and citizens have safe roads to travel.
