NEWS RELEASE – PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

LOAD RESTRICTIONS

Bayfield County Highway Department has imposed road restrictions within County roads
effective today, February 20, 2024, at 2:00pm. The Town of Iron River also imposes road
restrictions on all town roads effective today at 2:00pm at the current maximum axle tonnage (5
Tons) as posted. For any un-posted roads, the maximum allowed shall be 5 Tons maximum
per single axle and 8 Tons maximum per tandem axle group. For the Town of Iron River there
are no exceptions to this restriction until further notice from the Town of Iron River.

Pursuant to Section 348.16, Wisconsin Statutes, the Bayfield County Highway Department will
impose road restrictions beginning TODAY at 2:00 P.M. – TUESDAY, February 20, 2024.

All Class A County Road restrictions (lettered roads) shall be posted for 6 Tons maximum per
single axle and 10 ton maximum per tandem axle group. Class B County Highway D shall be
posted at 60% of Class A Highways. All non – divisible overweight permits will be suspended at
this time.
Exception to the posting: CTH-E from USH 63 to Nelson Rd., CTH-F from USH 63 westerly 1-
mile, CTH–J north from STH 13 for 1.2 miles.
