REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2025

AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER

These minutes represent the general subject matter discussed in this meeting but do not reflect a verbatim documentation of the subjects and conversation that took place.

  1. Chairman Richard Forsythe called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M. Present were Supervisor Rich Nemitz, Cassie Fleming, John Rautio, Steve Probst, and Clerk Treasurer Helen G Hyde , she also testified the meeting was properly posted.
  2. Roll call of Town Board. Richard Forsythe- Chairman, Steve Probst- Supervisor, Rich Nemitz- Supervisor, Cassie Fleming- Supervisor – John Rautio- Supervisor, all present
  3. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Agenda, correction remove the word ‘FROM’ on item #6 in last month’s minutes . Motion Carried.
  4. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Steve Probst to approve the Minutes of the Regular Town Meeting October 9, 2025 and the Special Town Board Meeting October 22, 2025. Motion Carried.
  5. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Financial Report. Motion Carried.
  6. Update on the County rewrite for the Ad hock committee, Josh Rowley
  7. Heads of Departments present. Fire- John Darwin, John Sleeman – Recycling Center , Jacqueline Pooler – Library, Police- Ryan Schneeberger
  8. Citizens Comments – Gary LaJoie, Peg Lavin
  9. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve Fishing Chick’s to use Moon Lake Park on January 17, 2026. Motion carried.
  10. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitzto recommend approval for Ross Darst, 68288 District Street for an after the fact shipping container, with the following conditions, a vegetative barrier that will grow to be 15 feet tall be planted between the storage facility and Willow Manor. Motion carried.
  11. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Rautio to contribute $150.00 to a dumpster through the County for CWD prevention initiative in Bayfield County, the dumpster will be located at Timber Ghost Taxidermy. Motion carried.
  12. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the new rates at the Recycling Center, rates will be posted at Center and a list at the Clerk’s Office. Motion Carried.
  13. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Steve Probst to approve the Blueberry Reader Marathon and Half Marathon through the Library on September 13, 2026. Motion carried.
  14. Update on Northlakes Ally. Chairman Rick went to the clinic to inspect the ally, at this time the Highway Department will put in rubber speed bumps, have ordered two signs ( slow speed bumps ahead)of course they will not be put out during winter plowing.
  15. Update on the Dam Account and its restricted Account at SSB for the DNR. The restricted account with the DNR was only for 10 years and now is open to use for the Dam account purposes.
  16. Update on Kubota tractor, owned by the Sanitary District. The Town uses the tractor more than the sanitary district. The Town has offered to buy the tractor moving forward, Chairman is going to attend a meeting for the Sanitary and offer to purchase the Kubota tractor.
  17. The Town has spoken to County Zoning and the County Health department about the Anthony Mitchell Building on Main Street. This building has partially fallen down, is over grown with trees and weeds and is a hazard to people as it stands. The Town has been dealing with Anthony for an extended period of time. The County has indicated it was the Town of iron River’s responsibility moving forward to have the building torn down. The Town Board is still discussing ways to move forward with this situation.
  18. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to adjourn at 7:10 P.M. Motion carried
