REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING
THURSDAY, JULY 13, 2023

These minutes represent the general subject matter discussed in this meeting but do not reflect a verbatim
documentation of the subjects and conversation that took place.
1. Chairman David Ciembronowicz called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M.
Present were Supervisor Cassie Fleming, Rich Nemitz, John Sleeman , Roric Gilmer and
Clerk/Treasurer Helen G Hyde. Clerk testified the meeting was properly posted.
2. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Sleeman to approve the Agenda, Motion Carried.
3. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Minutes of the Regular
Town Meeting June 8, 2023 and the Special Town Board Meeting July 1, 2023. Motion Carried.
4. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Flemimg to approve the Financial Report. Motion
Carried.
5. Head of Departments Present- Ryan Schneeberger- Police, John Darwin-Fire, Andy Jatzo-
Highway, Jackie Pooler – Library, John Sleeman- Recycling center update
6. Citizens Comments. Sue Modeen-the lack of campers at Moon Lake Park is effecting businesses
and feeling the loss of people at the park. Randy Morgan-wake sign @ Moon Lake Park, very
concerned about some sexually orientated books at the library. Karlan Williams –spoke of how
well the library is run. Cynthia Samels-fire work problem, too many fireworkd outside of the
week of the 4 th of July. John Quam-asking if he could get some gravel and grading for 7420
Drummond Street, Gary LaJoie-asking about Mill Rate and Budgets. Sue Modeen-can parade
route go by Senior Buildings. Lions Club explained they went to senior buildings and offered to
take them to the Masonic Hall to watch parade .Julie Liden- asked if garbage on left side of park
be cleaned after the BB festival. Jeanna Penny- asked the Board if she could get her job at the
Recycling Center back.
7. Tyler Forsythe was not present so item 7 was tabled.
8. A motion by John Sleeman, seconded by Rich Nemitz to recommend approval to Joseph
Ligmsnm at 7670 Spider Lake Road for a short term rental.Planning Commission approved this
request as well. Motion carried.
9. A motion John Sleeman, seconded by Roric Gilmer to recommend approval to John & Donica
Krudson at 64910 East Long Lake Road Kickin Back Trail for permission to keep an RV on site for
3 years to complete cabin construction. Planning Commission approved of the request as well.
Motion carried.
10. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by John Sleeman to recommend approval to David & Lisa
Anderson at 69835 East Long lake Road for a short term rental. Motion Carried.
11. A motion by Roric Gilmer, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Special Event request
from JBOs Blowing, Bar & Grill to have a street dance and road closure July 221, 2023 on South
Main street from Hwy 2 to Mill Street. Noise Ordinance, open container, no glass on streets,
barricades and garbage cans. Motion carried.
12. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to proceed with the sale of the old
ambulance, starting bid of $10,000.00. Bids will be taken until the September Board meeting.
Motion carried.
13. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Sleeman to accept the New Ordinance for
storage containers and /or semi-trailers. Motion carried.
14. Hughes Net service for Moon Lake Park. The service has been canceled with Hughes net; it was
not feasible and does not work for the park.
15. A motion by John Sleeman, seconded by Rich Nemitz, to accept a bid from Norvado for wifi
service at Moon Lake Park. The town will lease the equipment with a 5 year contract. This
service will cover the entire park. Motion carried.
16. Update: Callahan property purchase status. The survey is complete on land and building, just
waiting on results, then will be closing on property.
17. The Republic Waste bid for the Recycling Center compactor and new contract will be on the
August Agenda to discuss.
18. Update on Peddlers Permit. The permit for a peddlers permit is $50.00 per season to sell in the
Town of Iron River.
19. Moon Lake Park update. No camp host this year, restructuring the park, process being made to
have upgraded changes, consisting of wifi for the Park.
20. Update on Mill rate & property Assessment. Chairman explained the procedure for assessed
value and mill rates. The Town will be out of compliance within the next year. The Town
Assessor will be doing a revaluation on the Town by next year to bring us within the State
guidelines.
21. Update on the Mitchell Building. 5 apartments are complete; there will be a total of 8.
22. The Town Board may entertain a motion to move in and out of closed session pursuant to Wis.
Stat #19.85 (1) (c) Considering employment, promotion, and compensation or performance
evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or
exercises responsibility. Performance evaluation of Town employees. Reconvening Sec. 19.85 (2)
A motion by Rich Nemotz, seconded by Cassie Flemimg to go into closed session. Motion
carried. Discussion. A motion by Cassie Flemimg, seconded by Roric Gilmer to excite closed
session. Motion carried
23. A motion by John Sleeman , seconded by Roric Gilmer to adjourn at 8:15 P.M. Motion carried.
