REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2024

These minutes represent the general subject matter discussed in this meeting but do not
reflect a verbatim documentation of the subjects and conversation that took place.

1. Chairman David Ciembronowicz called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M.
Present were Supervisor Rich Nemitz, Cassie Fleming, John Rautio, John Sleeman was absent
and Clerk/Treasurer Helen G Hyde. Clerk testified the meeting was properly posted.
2. A motion by Johm Rautio, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Agenda. Motion Carried.
3. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded Cassie Fleming to approve the Minutes of the Regular Town
Meeting September 12, 2024, Motion Carried.
4. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Financial Report. Motion
Carried.
5. Heads of Departments present. Jackie Pooler- Library, Fire- John Darwin, Andy Jatzo- Highway,
Adam Olson-Ambulance
6. Ad Hoc Committee for Housing- no report, Parks & Recreation-No report
7. Citizens Comments – Peg Lavin
8. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Rautio to recommend approval to Mathy
Construction for a use permit to renew and continue the existing nonmetallic mine with the
following restrictions · The East and South sides of the planned mining area must have a berm
with a minimum height of 12 to 15 feet constructed prior to crushing or washing operations. No
asphalt plants to be used. Maximum hours of operation should be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m Monday
through Friday. No operations on Saturday, Sunday, or on federal holidays. Follow all setback
requirements set by Bayfield County Zoning Department. Follow a reclamation plan that has
been approved by Bayfield County Zoning Department. Motion approved
9. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Rich Nemitz to amend the Town Ordinance 19-15
Closing Hours and or Section 19-40 Penalties, addition of penalties for remaining open beyond
specified time frame. This is an ordinance is geared to bar closing hours. Motion carried.
10. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded to Rich Nemitz, construct a letter to respond to Bayfield
County from the Iron River Town Board pertaining to the Bayfield County Board proposal for full
time EMS personnel scattered throughout the county. Motion carried.

11. A motion to amend the Official ordinance #9-1Regulation of Firearms and Explosives, the Town
Board voted unanimously to adopt this amended Firearms ordinance. Yes-David Ciembronowicz,
Yes-John Rautio, Yes-Cassie Fleming, Yes-Rich Nemitz. Motion carried.
12. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Rich Nemitz to accept a proposal from Rice Lake Glass
to repair and or replace doors of Community Center using ARPA funds for the total of Total of
$9,952.00. Motion carried.
13. Update. The resolution that was passed to vacate alleys in Iron River, update to the Town Board
and request to ask Clark & Clark to complete the Highway Orders required for VFW and
Petersons properties.
14. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by John Rautio to approve Halloween Trick or Treat on
Thursday October 31, 2024 from 4:30- 5:00 PM. Motion carried.
15. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Rich Nemitz, submit a letter to the Bayfield County
Administrator & Zoning in response to townships who are concerned about Bayfield County
Zoning Department. Motion carried.
16. Update: The new compactor at the Recycling Center will be installed on October 17, 2024
17. Update: Moon Lake park Campground will be closed for the season on October 15, 2024
18. Update: The Town is searching for new police officers
19. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to Table the quote for new ambulance for
EMS Department with delivery in 2026, one more quote needs to be obtained. Motion carried.
20. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by John Rautio to table the request from Northlakes Clinic to
pay the bill for work done to repair sewage pipe that connects to Town Sanitary District System.
Motion carried.
21. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to adjourn at 7:45 P.M. Motion carried.
