TOWN OF IRON RIVER

REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

THURSDAY, JULY 9, 2026

AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER

These minutes represent the general subject matter discussed in this meeting but do not reflect a verbatim documentation of the subjects and conversation that took place.

  1. Chairman Richard Forsythe called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M. Present were Supervisor Rich Nemitz, John Rautio, Steve Probst, Cassie Fleming and Clerk Treasurer Helen G Hyde, she also testified the meeting was properly posted.
  2. Roll call of Town Board. Richard Forsythe- Chairman, Steve Probst- Supervisor, Rich Nemitz- Supervisor, John Rautio- Supervisor, Cassie Fleming – Supervisor. All present
  3. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by John Rautio to approve the Agenda. Motion carried.
  4. A motion by Cassie Fleming , second by John Sleeman to approve the Minutes of the regular Town Board Meeting June 11, 2026, Motion carried.
  5. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Financial Report. Motion approved.
  6. Heads of Department present: Andy Jatzo- Highway, John Sleeman-Recycling Center, John Darwin-Fire, Adam Olson-EMS, Jacquiline Pooler – Library, Ryan Schneeburger-Police
  7. Citizens Comments. Peg Lavin, Sandra Dietz, Cynthia Samuals
  8. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Steve Probst to Table the request from Klaus Nieder for 2 driveway permits until further information can be collected. Motion carried.
  9. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Rautio to approve the banner on Highway 2 in recognition of Overdose Awareness Day by Behavioral health & Community programs. The banner will be hung along Highway 2 not across it. Motion carried.
  10. A motion by Rick Forsythe, seconded by Casie Fleming to post a 10 Ton limit max year round from East Ruth Lake Road to County Highway A and East Ruth Lake Road from Ruth Lake Road to the south dead end, the exceptions will be for utility trucks and will be contacted to let them know. Motion carried.
  11. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Cassie Fleming to re appoint the Planning Commission members (Scott Ogren, Scott Weyandt, Steve Probst, Lisa Hyde, Rick Forsythe) Motion carried.
  12. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to move the August Regular Town Board Meeting to TUESADY, AUGUST 4th, 2026 at 6 PM. Motion carried.
  13. Pickle Ball Court update, Rick Forsythe & Steve Probst will be liaison to this group, Update on Dog park, this will be put on hold until further notice.
  14. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Special Event permit for The Other Place Bar and Grill at Railroad Street on August 22, 2026 from 9Am-3:30 Pm, for a car show, no glass outside, use of the garbage cans and barricades, Motion carried.
  15. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Special Event permit from JBos for a Street Dance on July 24, 2026 at 68290 South Main Street from 8:00 Pm-1:00 Am, noise abatement, use of garbage cans & barricades, no glass outside. Motion carried.
  16. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to adjourn at 7:00 pm. Motion carried.
