TOWN OF IRON RIVER

REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2025

  1. Chairman Richard Forsythe called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M. Present were Supervisor Rich Nemitz, Cassie Fleming, John Rautio, Steve Probst, and Clerk Treasurer Helen G Hyde , she also testified the meeting was properly posted.
  2. Roll call of Town Board. Richard Forsythe- Chairman, Steve Probst- Supervisor, Rich Nemitz- Supervisor, Cassie Fleming- Supervisor – John Rautio- Supervisor
  3. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Steve Probst to approve the Agenda. Motion Carried.
  4. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the Minutes of the Regular Town Meeting June 12, 2025. Motion Carried.
  5. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Financial Report. Motion Carried.
  6. Heads of Departments present. Fire- John Darwin, EMS- Mike Sims, Andy Jatzo- Highway, Ryan Schneeberger – Police, Jacqueline Pooler – Library
  7. Citizens Comments – No citizens comments
  8. Ad Hock Committee updates from Josh Rowley for the Zoning Department issues. Supervisor Nemitz asked Chairman Forsythe to place the Zoning issues on the next agenda.
  9. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Steve Probst to recommend approval for Byron and Leta Little for land division at 68490 Lea Street, the Planning Commission approved this request as well. Motion carried.
  10. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Rich Nemitz to recommend approval to Violet Magnuson Trust, a conditional use permit at 10450 Hillside Lane, the planning commission approved the request as well, with conditions listed to be sent to Bayfield County Zoning. Motion carried.
  11. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the temporary class B retailers license for Northern Adventures Snowmobile Club Inc. for Friday September 12, 2025 through Sunday September 14, 2025 at the Fair Grounds, 7080 North Main Street. Motion carried.
  12. A motion by Cassie Fleming , seconded by John Rautio to approve the application for a special event permit to The Other Place , 7555 Railroad Street, for a Car Show held on August 16, 2025 Closing street from 9AM – 5 PM, using road blocks, needing garbage cans and open container. Motion carried
  13. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Rich Nemitz to approve the Special Event Permit from J Botten, (JB’s), at 68290 South Main Street for a street dance on July 25, 2025 from 8PM to 1AM, noise abatement, open container, road blocks, garbage cans. Motion carried.
  14. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Cassie Fleming to accept the request from Chippewa Valley Bank , signatures from Clerk and Chairman for Public Depository Accounts, Motion carried.
  15. Update on Timber Sales, Steve Probst. The County bid out this spring for the County and Town of Iron River. The Town will make approximately $34,216.86, which will be revenue for the Town; the county takes a flat rate of $2,500 fee.
  16. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by rich Nemitz to amend the chip seal on Hart Lake Road 950 feet to do the whole road, drop E. Ruth lake Road for Chip sealing, project on Hart Lake Road will be still completed with bid from Scott, at the same price. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by John Rautio to bid E Ruth Lake Road for hot mix/asphalt, bids to be open at the August Regular Town Board meeting. Motion carried.
  17. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Rich Nemitz to keep John Plaster and Scott Ogren as members for the Police and Fire Commission for an addition 2 years, which as recommended by the current Police and Fire commission. Term from May 1, 2025-May 1, 2027 .Motion carried.
  18. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by John Rautio to adjourn at 7:15 P.M. Motion carried
