Following discussion with the County and others I have determined it is in the best interest of Iron River to declare a state of emergency and disaster due to the ongoing Blizzard conditions.   This declaration allows us to pursue with the county and/or state funds that are spent extraordinarily because of the storm.     It puts us in a position whereby we may be able to get some aid to compensate the town for overtime, extra costs, etc..

Declaration of a  State of Emergency                                                     February 23, 2023

 

WHEREAS, a disaster, a Blizzard and Heavy Snow Emergency commencing on February 23, 2023 has struck the _Town of Iron River in Bayfield County, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, because of such emergency conditions, the Town of Iron River is unable to meet with promptness; and

THEREFORE, pursuant to sections 323.11 and 323.14 (4) (b) of the Wisconsin Statutes it is necessary and expedient for the health, safety, welfare and good order to proclaim that emergency conditions exist.

IN TESTIMONY WHEROF I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the great seal of the

State of Wisconsin to be affixed.
