REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2026

These minutes represent the general subject matter discussed in this meeting but do not reflect a verbatim documentation of the subjects and conversation that took place.

  1. Chairman Richard Forsythe called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order at 6 P.M. Present were Supervisor Rich Nemitz, John Rautio, Steve Probst, Cassie Fleming and Clerk Treasurer Helen G Hyde, she also testified the meeting was properly posted.
  2. Roll call of Town Board. Richard Forsythe- Chairman, Steve Probst- Supervisor, Rich Nemitz- Supervisor, John Rautio- Supervisor, Cassie Fleming – Supervisor. All present
  3. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by John Rautio to approve the Agenda. Motion carried.
  4. A motion by Rich Nemitz, second by Steve Probst to approve the Minutes of the regular Town Board Meeting May 7, 2026, and the Special Town Board Meeting June 2, 2026. Motion carried.
  5. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by John Rautio to approve the Financial Report. Motion approved.
  6. Heads of Department present: Andy Jatzo- Highway, John Sleeman-Recycling Center, John Darwin-Fire, Adam Olson-EMS, Jacquiline Pooler – Library
  7. Citizens Comments- Carrie Winingham, Matt Williams, David Mills
  8. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Rich Nemitz to recommend approval to Richard G Tutewohl for a shipping container 20 x 8 to store lawn mower, UTV and snowmobile at 66176 North Point Drive. Motion carried.
  9. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Rich Nemitz to recommend approval to Kyle & Jordan Nelson for expanded childcare for up to 25 children at 69480 Range Line Road. Motion approved.
  10. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by John Rautio to recommend approval to Gregory & Christine Carrier and Jeffery & Chelsey Simon to portion off Lot 2&3 of Dufur Flecks 2nd Long Lake Subdivision and combine with parts of Out Lot A of the 1st Addition to Long Lake Subdivision at 10975 Woodberry Lane. Motion approved.
  11. Anthony Mitchell Building update. Issac Dull bought the building on June 2, 2026 and is starting to clean up the area.
  12. A group of people wanting to have a pickle ball court spoke to the Town Board asking for insight on possible areas for a pickle ball court to be built. The Board is looking into options and the group will be in touch as well.
  13. A motion by Steve Probst, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve and give The Lions club permission to have the Junior Lions to sand and stain out at Moon Lake Park, the Board was in approval to let the Junior Lions work at the park. Motion carried.
  14. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Steve Probst to approve the support for Tricia Talso to have a mural at the Ravens breath Brewery Building. She is currently fundraising to put the mural up. The Chairman will write letters of support as needed. Motion carried.
  15. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Steve Probst to authorize the Town Chairman to alter the draft letter regarding possible EMS changes and send it to Bayfield County after Supervisors Nemitz and Probst have reviewed it. Motion Carried.
  16. A motion by Rich Nemits, seconded by Steve Probst to endorse continued research into a possible dog park and appropriate locations, Supervisor Fleming will assist. Motion carried.
  17. A motion by John Rautio, seconded by Cassie Fleming to approve the 2026-2027 Liquor Licenses as presented. Motion carried.
  18. No action taken on the Safety disaster plan for the Town of iron River
  19. A motion by rich Nemitz, seconded by Cassie Fleming to have Supervisor Probst assemble comments on the Sanitary, Sewer and Floodplains sections of the County Zoning rewrite and provide to Chairman Forsythe to submit to Bayfield County. Motion carried.
  20. A motion by Cassie Fleming, seconded by Steve Probst to have Chairman Forsythe and Supervisor Nemitz to work with the affected Departments regarding a potential Fire/EMS/Highway Department building expansion. Motion carried.
  21. A motion by Rich Nemitz, seconded by Steve Probst to adjourn at 7:30pm. Motion carried.
